The company is a large US technology company, with significant operations in Galway city.
This is a newly created role reporting to the Galway head of finance.  
As the company plan major expansion of the Galway operation (growing fourfold in the coming years) this role will involve significant project work.  
This role supports the Financial Controller(s) with a wide variety of functions including transaction processing, financial analysis, annual planning, forecasts, annual statutory audit and tax compliance support and the implementation of financial controls and audit trail. 

The role will be responsible for these functions for multiple European legal entities. 

The candidate must be self-motivated, work well under deadlines, able to prioritise, be results driven, detail-oriented and enjoy interacting with staff worldwide. 

The ideal candidate will also have a passion for process improvement, have demonstrated an interest and aptitude for systems, using business intelligence tools and adding analysis and insight to data. 

The candidate will have strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills; must flexible in terms of shifting demands and priorities, can multi-task, work independently and as part of a multinational and cross functional teams. 

This role is based in Galway city and requires the ability to travel. 

Minimum Qualifications & Experience: 
A Chartered or other Accountancy Qualification. 
The ideal candidate will preferably have experience of working in Multinational software or other high-tech companies or similar environment. 
Exposure to international accounting processes and systems including US GAAP and IAS. 
Proven experience with monthly closing process including accounts payable, Balance Sheet reconciliations, payroll, accrual accounting, tax and VAT preparation 
Exposure to multi-national financial reporting and analysis including foreign exchange 
Strong team player, proven ability in leading and working effectively with cross-functional and virtual teams. 
Exposure to projects such as, a systems implementation or Business process improvement initiative. 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
Expert skills with Excel and other MS Office applications and exposure to ERP systems such as Oracle EBS. 
Ability to work in multiple European languages is a plus.
